I have a life long love affair with wood. As a raw material, there is nothing that ties me more powerfully to the past. It’s like holding time in my hands.

  • For the Future.

Sustainable practises are key for the future health of all living things. Finding every way possible to implement this core belief into daily life and commercial enterprises is key for all subsequent generations. We take pride in the fact that Sustainability plays a large role in the acquisition of materials that we are lucky enough to work with. Whenever available FSC certified timbers are chosen, as well as storm felled and standing dead. Reclaimed timber, like the Dark Forest Cypress, are natural fallen, meaning no living tree was cut down. Axe cut material come from logs lost more than Century ago in transport.

  • From the Past.

Some materials could be considered recycled or are outright recycled. A sunken log that was intended for ship parts in the 1700’s, but never made it, finds a new life in instruments. Material from buildings being torn down or discarded furniture are both treasure troves of amazing resources. It could be that material was damaged or considered low grade due to defects, which then sat for decades slowly being forgotten. Our foundations are built on these bones.

  • For all of Us.

We are obliged in a time of speed and consumerism to take responsibility for our decisions. Holding ourselves accountable and not relying on others to do it is how we shall succeed as a whole. Repair the broken things, look past the dents and see the story, the history. You might find that it was not necessarily what you were looking for but that it was actually what you wanted.

For my Children.

Every choice has a consequence. I hope that my choices allow my children to enjoy Nature in the ways that I have and do.
